Salt Spring Literacy
Salt Spring Literacy is a registered non-profit charity working mainly with adults on Salt Spring Island to upgrade reading, writing, comprehension, and basic math skills.
We have tutors who can help you for free and privately in one-on-one sessions to
- read documents,
- fill out forms,
- pass the written driver's test,
- read to your children,
- upgrade your skills so you can apply for job training,
- learn to use the computer,
- enjoy reading more difficult books.
We have one paid part-time coordinator, and the rest of us are volunteers. We are always in need of people who are passionate about lifelong learning, and are willing to mentor people who come to us for help with their reading and writing skills.
There are many other tasks that need workers: staffing the office and greeting people who drop in to find out who we are is one essential job that is always needed. If you want to know other areas in which we need volunteers currently, please e-mail coordinator@saltspringliteracy.org, leave a message at 250-537-9717, or drop in at our office at 125-A McPhillips Ave in Ganges.
